Tijdens het afgelopen jaar onderzochten studenten van Hogeschool Leiden en Universiteit Leiden de maatschappelijke en sociale impact van Corona. Wat betekent het als je anderhalve meter afstand moet houden tot je medebewoners? Hoe beïnvloedt Corona het leven van mensen in Leiden? Ze deden dit als onderdeel van een Corona Challenge, ontwikkeld en begeleid door Leren met de Stad | Op Locatie en kunstenaarscollectief Liquid Society.

Als onderdeel van deze Corona Challenge keken studenten van de opleiding Toegepaste Psychologie van Hogeschool Leiden naar de impact van Corona op de wijk, bedachten sociale innovaties en ontwikkelden interventies om te werken aan de problemen die voortkwamen (en komen) uit het omgaan met de coronapandemie. Studenten van de Honours Academy van Universiteit Leiden zetten wetenschappelijke inzichten om naar een artistieke vorm.
Onder begeleiding van Liquid Society gebruikten studenten kunst om verbinding te maken met en tussen bewoners van Leiden Noord en de sociale cohesie daar te versterken. Dit resulteerde onder andere in een ‘Liquid Walk’ in de wijk, waarvan in de video een verslag is te zien. Naast studenten komen daarin ook de betrokken docenten aan het woord: van de ‘wicked problems’ waarmee de psychologiestudenten aan de slag gingen tot de combinatie van theorie en praktijk die voor de Honours studenten het zwaartepunt vormden van de Corona Challenge.
Zowel de docenten en begeleiders als de studenten zijn trots op het resultaat van de challenge, die met behulp van subsidie vanuit de City Deal Kennis Maken tot stand is gekomen.
